Gilbert on the Djokovic-Murray collaboration: "I'm fascinated by the idea of seeing if there will be a change in Novak from the outset".
Former Andy Murray coach at the start of the Scot's career, Brad Gilbert has given his opinion on the forthcoming partnership between his former protégé and Novak Djokovic.
As a reminder, the two-time Wimbledon winner will coach the Serb at least until the Australian Open. The former world number 1 is aiming for a major title in 2025, and is hoping for a return to Grand Slam success.
"It makes sense for Novak to try something. We didn't know what he was going to do, but we suspected he'd probably need something to motivate him.
Obviously, he turned to Andy. More than anything else, I think Novak needs some motivation with these two young players, Sinner and Alcaraz, who have really progressed.
The first thing I'm going to do when I travel to Australia is watch Murray and Djokovic train. That will be interesting.
Will they be training together? Will Novak do it with a different partner? I want to see if I notice anything different for his first round in Brisbane and then at the Australian Open.
As a coach and former player, I'm fascinated by the idea of seeing if there will be any change in Novak from the start," he explained on the ATP website.
