Gracheva on working with her new coach: "It will take time to put everything in place"
This Wednesday, Varvara Gracheva made a strong start at the WTA 1000 in Rome. The only Frenchwoman in the main draw in Italy defeated Ajla Tomljanovic for the fifth time in as many meetings (6-3, 6-4).
Before facing Madison Keys in the next round, the 24-year-old player discussed her collaboration with Maxime Tchoutakian, her new coach, with whom she has been working for just a few days.
"It wasn’t easy at first, but I managed my emotions and the playing conditions well. It will take time to put everything in place, but I’m happy with the work we’ve been doing with Maxime for just over a week now.
Since the start of the year, it hasn’t been easy to find a new team, and I’m glad to have a French coach—both in terms of language and communication style," she told *L’Équipe*.
