Griekspoor after his unexpected victory against Medvedev: "I should have already been on the plane to Indian Wells"
Tallon Griekspoor upset Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals of the Dubai tournament by saving four match points on his serve in the second set.
After the first round where he had already saved three match points against Roman Safiullin, the world No. 47 once again miraculously emerged victorious, as he mentioned in a press conference:
"In the second set, I asked myself, 'How am I still in the tournament?' I should have already been on the plane to Indian Wells. Sometimes, you have to be a bit lucky.
In the first round, I saved three match points, including one where I think I should have lost the point. After that, you feel a bit more relaxed, liberated.
In this match (against Medvedev), I told myself, 'If you're going to lose, at least do it with style.'"
