Griekspoor muzzled by Sinner: "I only made three unforced errors and I still lost it".
Tallon Griekspoor once again lost out to Jannik Sinner in the Davis Cup final in Malaga on Sunday. Defeated for the 6th time in 6 duels, the Dutch No. 1 gave it his all, even giving Sinner doubts in the first set.
Unfortunately for him, the world's No. 1 was stronger in the end, winning in two sets (7-6, 6-2) to secure the title for his nation. In a statement relayed by Punto de Break, Griekspoor reflected on this latest setback, appearing almost disgusted: "I had no choice but to play at a high level.
This Jannik with this level and confidence is incredibly difficult to beat. I tried to give it my best shot and I think I was up to the task in the first set and at the start of the second.
I only committed three unforced errors in the first set and still lost it."
