Guido Monaco bashes Kyrgios: "A problematic guy who has done more harm than good to the tennis world".
The 2025 tennis season is about to get underway. At the end of December, the Brisbane tournament will open the year.
One of the main attractions will be the doubles pairing between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios, which promises to create sparks.
The Australian, absent from the courts for almost two years (only one official match since the start of 2023), has been in the news in recent months for his numerous comments about Jannik Sinner's positive test at Indian Wells, which caused him to lose all respect for himself.
Former professional player Guido Monaco, now a consultant for OA Sport, expressed his disappointment at Djokovic's decision to team up in doubles with Kyrgios, whom the Italian does not hold dear to his heart.
"This relationship that he continues to have after the declarations of Kyrgios, who is a negative character for tennis, bothers me.
I'm all for ignoring Kyrgios. If this match is going to happen, Sinner will treat him like a normal opponent and we should do the same by ignoring a person who has always spat on tennis.
Let's treat him as what he is: a problematic guy who has done more harm than good to the tennis world.
Let's not give him the weight he doesn't have on such important issues.
We should talk less about him because if we don't, we're playing into his hands, and that's exactly what he wants."
