Halep to play at the Australian Open!

Simona Halep has no intention of giving up. At the age of 33, the former world number 1 is determined to bounce back. Stunned by a controversial doping suspension, the Romanian is slowly making her way back to competition.

Having fallen back to 879th in the world rankings, we've just learned that she could still play in the first Grand Slam of the season, or at least in the qualifying rounds.

The Australian Open has announced that it has decided to grant Simona Halep a wildcard for the qualifying rounds of its main draw.

It now remains to be seen whether the two-time Grand Slam winner will be in good enough form to make it through to the main draw.
