Quentin Halys is likely to remember this match for a very long time. On a very good day (30 aces, 63 winners, 42 unforced errors), the Frenchman seemed perfectly poised to achieve a new feat against Holger Rune on Saturday.
Unfortunately for him, he failed to seize the opportunities when they presented themselves and finally exploded in the 5th set (1-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-1).
For his part, Rune can take a deep breath. Despite being badly outplayed, he was able to weather the storm created by his opponent, and put in a fine display of tennis (50 winners, 22 unforced errors).
Qualifying for the second week, the Dane will meet a somewhat hesitant Novak Djokovic.
