Arthur Rinderknech did it. At 30 years old, the Frenchman achieved a monumental victory against Daniil Medvedev, his fourth consecutive Top 20 win, to reach the first Masters 1000 final of his career. And it's not just any final: it will be a family duel against his cousin, Valentin Vacherot.

In the stifling heat of Shanghai's center court, Arthur Rinderknech delivered a great performance against Daniil Medvedev, world number 16. Final score: 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. But the most telling statistic: 10 break points saved out of 11.

This is the first time since 2014 that a Frenchman has reached a Masters 1000 final. And the last to win one? A certain Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, in Toronto.

Destiny sometimes has these kinds of craziness that only sports can provide. Valentin Vacherot, 26 years old, also unknown to the general public just a few months ago, also reached the final after a magical run.

First cousins, Rinderknech and Vacherot will face off for the most prestigious title of their careers in a match filled with emotion. "I cried when I saw Arthur win," shared Vacherot, overwhelmed, right after his semifinal. "We never could have imagined this."
