He will have to watch out for Alcaraz," Bertolucci discusses Sinner's situation ahead of Cincinnati
Jannik Sinner will begin the Cincinnati tournament as the defending champion, before also defending his crown at the US Open later this month.
Although he currently holds a lead of over 3,000 points over his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 1 could be caught in the rankings since the Spaniard has only 65 points to defend on this North American tour.
In comments reported by *Tennis Up To Date*, former player Paolo Bertolucci discussed this precarious situation for Sinner:
"In Cincinnati, Sinner will need to immediately deliver a high-level performance to consolidate the points he has earned or compensate for those he might lose. He will have to be wary of Carlos Alcaraz, who is his only rival for the No. 1 spot.
The Spaniard has followed the same path as Sinner and will also return to action in Cincinnati. But unlike the Italian, and despite trailing in the rankings, he will have very few points to defend in this final stretch of the 2025 season.
