"He's the player who knows this sport the best," Alcaraz discusses his relationship with Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive time. The Spaniard, currently the two-time defending champion in London, dominated Jan-Lennard Struff (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and can still dream of a historic triple crown on English grass.
During a press conference, the 22-year-old Alcaraz reflected on his relationship with Novak Djokovic. The youngest world No. 1 in history (achieved in 2022) has shared the court with Djokovic on numerous occasions, including in Grand Slam and Masters 1000 finals.
"Right now, I think Novak Djokovic is the smartest man on the court. Novak is, without a doubt, the player who knows this sport the best. With his experience and everything he’s been through on a tennis court, and after watching so many matches in his career, I believe he understands the sport better than anyone.
"I’ve spoken to Novak many, many times. I’ve watched his matches, trained with him, and even observed some of his practice sessions. However, we don’t talk about tennis, matches, or things like that. I prefer to talk to him about other aspects of life, not tennis.
"I try to learn from his game, his training methods, and how he approaches certain matches, but always from an outside perspective—not because I ask him questions or discuss tennis with him.
"I love watching him play tennis, I cherish every time I’ve trained with him, his movement, his playing style, and his training routines. But beyond that, I don’t talk to him about tennis," he elaborated to *Punto De Break*.
