"His haircut isn't so bad after all," Navratilova jokes after Alcaraz's US Open triumph
Despite her 18 Grand Slam titles, Martina Navratilova said she was stunned by young Alcaraz's latest performance in the US Open final: "It's crazy. I didn't win my first title until I was 21, and he already has six at 22. And he hasn't even reached his peak yet."
In a humorous tone, the former champion didn't stop there, going on to mention his haircut, which was a real media and public attraction at the start of the tournament:
"You know, that haircut isn't so bad after all. So there's no need to worry. But hey, you're holding the trophy in your hands. You couldn't care less about your hairstyle. But he's a true champion."
"These two players are great role models for us. We're really lucky. We just have to hope they stay healthy, and then this sport will be in good hands."
For reference, only Borg has done better than the Spaniard since the start of the Open Era: 6 Grand Slams at 22 years and 32 days.
