Humbert, Defeated by Popyrin in Monte-Carlo, Suffers from a Fractured Right Hand

Ugo Humbert's run at the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 came to an early end. The 26-year-old Frenchman lost to Alexei Popyrin after winning the first set (3-6, 7-6, 6-4), but drew attention by entering the court with a large bandage on his right hand.
The French player kept the bandage throughout his match against the world No. 27. In fact, last year's Paris-Bercy finalist is suffering from a fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his right hand.
During the press conference, the Metz native revealed this rather unusual injury, which occurred in the last few hours while he was still in Gard.
"I did this at UTS Nîmes, I left in a hurry. I slipped in my room and hit the bedside table. It drives me crazy because it’s so stupid," he said after the match against the Australian.
