Having beaten Joao Fonseca on Day 1 of the Davis Cup against Brazil, Ugo Humbert once again proved that his game is perfectly suited to the indoor hard court.
The fast-paced surface of the Palais des Sports d'Orléans quickly boosted the confidence of the French No.1, who remains on a 14-1 record in his last fifteen indoor matches:
"I managed to stay stable throughout the match and maintain my intensity. To beat me indoors in France, you have to be pretty solid.
If you beat me, you've had a good match, because I play particularly well on these fast surfaces.
I asked for the surface to be fast enough and not to bounce too much, so I like these conditions.
Today, I played a great match against a great player. I felt I was dominating the game.
