Humbert looks back on his 2024 season: "My goal was to go to the Masters"
Ugo Humbert, now ranked 14th in the world, has enjoyed the best season of his career, winning tournaments in Dubai and Marseille and then reaching the final in Tokyo and Paris.
In an interview with Midi Libre, the player from Metz looks back on a successful year, even if he would have liked to be ranked even higher: "This year, my aim was to go to the Masters, to finish in the top eight.
I got the year off to a good start with titles in Dubai and Marseille. For the first time, I was on target and I put myself under incredible pressure.
I was caught up in the rankings, the points, which is super negative because I wasn't preparing properly, I arrived nervous on court."
The turning point came during the Asian tour, when he was already virtually out of the running for the Masters: "Towards the end of the year, I told myself that it was over and that I was just going to play my matches.
In the end, in Tokyo, I had a match point for the title. In Bercy, I'm in the final.
With just one or two matches to go, I'd have finished Top 10 without even thinking about it!
