Humbert withdraws from Toronto, Atmane replaces him in the main draw
Bad news for the French camp this Tuesday. Seeded 17th at the Toronto Masters 1000, Ugo Humbert will ultimately not be able to compete in Canada and has withdrawn at the last minute.
The 27-year-old from Metz had to pull out for a reason still unknown, despite being scheduled to face qualifier Emiliano Nava in the first round on the Motorola Razr Grandstand Court in the coming hours.
However, Humbert's withdrawal benefits another French player, Terence Atmane. Defeated in qualifying by Facundo Bagnis, the world No. 132 will now compete in the main draw of a Masters 1000 for the fourth time in his career.
After losing in the second round in Shanghai in 2023 (to Jarry) and in 2024 (to Fritz), he even reached the third round in Rome last year, where Grigor Dimitrov ended his run. Atmane will enter directly into the second round and will have the chance to match his best Masters 1000 performance later today.
