Due to its place in the calendar (close to Wimbledon), the Toronto Masters 1000 faces its share of absences every year, and this edition will be no exception. Add to that the change in format (12 days), and many players have decided not to travel to Canada, including Alcaraz, Sinner, and Djokovic.

A situation that many observers believe favors the rest of the tour's players. However, according to Shelton, this Canadian tournament won’t be any easier:

"The opportunity is there, and maybe a lot of players feel it. In my case, I feel excitement every time I play a big tournament, no matter who’s there, whether the top players are missing or not. I’m sure the fans feel the same way. This year, we’ve had some big losses, but we still have great players, all hungry and in great form.

Everyone will be looking to do damage, and I’m one of those guys. We’ll see—it’s tough, there are a lot of big names on the tour. I think the road will continue to be just as difficult. It won’t be a walk in the park for anyone. I’m approaching it as a new opportunity to add matches and build confidence for the US Open," he said in an interview relayed by *Punto de Break*.

Not holding my breath. The Americans couldn't win at Washington. Heck, they couldn't even reach the final!

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
