"If the surface speed is decent, I think both are beatable," Fritz on the possibility of defeating Sinner and Alcaraz
Ranked 4th in the ATP standings, Fritz is showing his ambitions and hopes to prove that he too is capable of winning a Grand Slam title. Although he acknowledges the lead Sinner and Alcaraz have taken, the American stated that depending on the surface, many players could find solutions against these two phenoms:
"There’s no denying they perform above average. They outclass the others, so it’s completely logical to say that. Under the right conditions—for example, if the surface speed is decent—I think both are beatable. Several players can defeat them if the conditions are right and they’re not at their best level. In tennis, as the sport is structured, some have very small margins."
Despite a win in 2021 during their first encounter, Fritz has yet to defeat Sinner again (0-4). Against the Spaniard (Alcaraz), the record is even tougher, as he holds a 0-3 head-to-head deficit.
