Jasmine Paolini failed to win her 3rd WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati. After a very strong run that saw her reach another career final, the Italian ultimately fell to Iga Swiatek, who returned to world No. 2 and showed great form (7-5, 6-4).

Before heading to the US Open, where she was defeated in the round of 16 by Karolina Muchova last year, Paolini discussed her mindset on the court—she is always smiling, no matter the situation. Even though the two-time Grand Slam finalist has claimed otherwise in recent hours.

"Am I always smiling on the court? To be honest, I’m not always like that, of course. But when I give my all and do my best, then yes, I smile.

In the Cincinnati final, I could have done better, obviously. But I fought for every point, even though the conditions were tough. I tried to react. I always try to see the positive side of things.

It was a very good tournament for me, ten very positive days after a more complicated month and a half. I gave everything I had, and that’s okay. I also can’t control everything that happens during a match.

I’m happy with the way I fought on the court as I did. Of course, I didn’t want to lose this final, but you also have to remember that there’s always an opponent on the other side of the net who also wants to win," Paolini told Tennis Up To Date.

It will really be befitting if he attains his 25th Grand Slam crown at the AO for he's truly the GOAT & this will stamp him & endorse his GOAT status without an iota of doubt

Almost as important to Djokovic as Slam #25--and requiring less luck--is beating Federer's total of 103 singles titles. He'll play 250s, and might even surpass Connors's 109.
