"It was a great experience, we had fun," Ruud reflects after the US Open mixed doubles final

After a very impressive run that took them all the way to the final, Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud fell to the all-Italian pair Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori (6-3, 5-7, 10-6).
During the press conference following the trophy ceremony, the Norwegian reacted to his loss with the Polish player and offered some suggestions to improve the new format for next year.
"We knew that Sara (Errani) and Andrea (Vavassori) were the favorites in the final, and they showed why on the court. Thank you, Iga (Swiatek), for taking the time to share part of your schedule after arriving at the last minute from Cincinnati.
It was a great experience, we had fun. Now it's time to focus on singles. It was an honor to play and share the court with Iga.
This is the first time they've tried a format like this. I know it has generated a lot of reactions—it's something ambitious.
You can't deny that it's a fantastic experience for the spectators, because Arthur Ashe Stadium was completely full at midnight on a Wednesday. How often do we get to see something like that?
The organization could make sure there are more doubles players. This year, there were only three. I understand the frustration of players who wanted to participate and couldn't.
When players react so strongly, the organizers analyze, take the feedback very seriously, and see what they can improve for the following year," Ruud assured Super Tennis.
