"It's a different approach," Mboko discusses her seeded status at the US Open

Victoria Mboko is one of the biggest revelations in recent weeks. The 18-year-old Canadian player, who will celebrate her birthday in the coming days, made waves this summer by defeating Naomi Osaka to win the very first title of her career on the main tour at the WTA 1000 in Montreal.
Ranked 85th before the tournament, she made a colossal leap in the rankings and will be seeded at the US Open, despite her withdrawal from Cincinnati. A guest on Andy Roddick's podcast in recent days, the Canadian discussed her new status.
"Honestly, if you had told me a year ago that I would have a high enough ranking to enter the main draw of the US Open directly, I would have said you were crazy! But yes, I'm really looking forward to it.
Just being seeded is something incredible. Of course, it's a different approach because I'm already in the draw, so I have a clearer schedule to prepare for what I want to do.
It's also a good thing to have so much time to prepare. I'm very excited. I want to enjoy myself as much as possible on the court, and this will be my first time playing in the main draw of the US Open, so it's still a new experience for me.
I think I'll ease into it gradually. It's a great opportunity, and I want to make the most of this moment and have as much fun as I can," Mboko stated recently.
