I am starting to hit my backhands normally again," Humbert gives positive signals before Roland-Garros

Victim of a fifth metacarpal fracture in early April, Ugo Humbert experienced a delicate clay court tour, playing several tournaments despite the pain.
Withdrawing from Hamburg this week to give his hand time to rest, the French No. 2 confirmed to L’Équipe that his injury seems to be almost healed:
"The hand is doing well, and I feel good. I am starting to hit my backhands normally again, and I am happy. Of course, the preparation for Roland-Garros was not optimal, as I could not play many matches. It was a somewhat difficult period, but I trained well physically.
The goal was not to chase results, but to stay in the rhythm of competition. Now, I am ready to compete, and I am very happy. I took a short break these past few days, but when I resumed, I had a nice surprise.
At the beginning, there was a bit of pain, but after fifteen minutes, it disappeared. Whereas before, it was constant. I am very happy when I manage to unleash a backhand down the line.
