I can't wait to play this match," Bencic ready for her semifinal against Swiatek at Wimbledon
Belinda Bencic has reached her first career Wimbledon semifinal, just over a year after giving birth to her daughter Bella.
The Swiss player, who started the season far from the top of the world rankings, is back in the spotlight and will face Iga Swiatek tomorrow for a spot in the final. During a press conference, the 28-year-old spoke about this clash with the five-time Grand Slam champion:
"I’m very happy with this win (against Andreeva). It was a balanced match, and I’m pleased with how I played the two tie-breaks. I was brave and stuck to my tactics. I can’t wait to play in the semifinal tomorrow because I don’t plan on stopping here. The preparation is a bit different since we don’t have a day off. [...]
Iga Swiatek and I have had good matches in the past. Our playing styles are very different. I think she has a much more physical game and puts a lot of spin on the ball. On my side, I take the ball early and play very flat. It’s going to be a very interesting match. I expect a good battle. But I haven’t had time to think about it yet. This afternoon, I’ll take the time to work on my tactics.
