"I deeply apologize for my dishonest behavior," says Nishikori following revelations of his infidelity

In a statement released through his management agency (IMG Japan), Nishikori apologized to those close to him after the exposé by the tabloid Shukan Bunshun. The Japanese media outlet had revealed the player's infidelity.
"I sincerely apologize for causing discomfort to all those who support me: tennis fans, associations, sponsors, and other concerned parties, as well as for the worry and inconvenience caused by my dishonest behavior. Furthermore, I deeply regret hurting my wife and children.
Moving forward, to fulfill my role as a responsible member of society, I will focus solely on tennis competitions and achieving results. I will do everything in my power to regain their trust."
Nishikori, who has been in a relationship with Mizuki Ako since 2015, was reportedly involved in an extramarital affair with model Oguchi Azuki. According to the tabloid, the affair began in 2023.
But he has zero obligations to apologise to the public. For what? None of us was impacted by his behaviour.
He didn't need to put it out in the public domain. He should have just tried to work it out with his wife if she chooses to reconcile with him.
