I didn't expect to not feel well," Jabeur shares update after Wimbledon withdrawal
Between poor performances and physical setbacks, Jabeur is having a tough season. Having dropped to 60th in the world rankings, the Tunisian player was eager to deliver strong performances on grass, a surface she particularly loves.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned in her first-round match at Wimbledon. A two-time finalist at the tournament, she had to leave London early, forced to retire in the second set against Tomova.
Absent from the post-match press conference, the player still shared an update on her social media:
"I didn’t expect to not feel well. I trained well these past few days, but these things happen. I’m really sad. It doesn’t help me keep my confidence or push myself further, even though this season has been very hard for me. I hope I’ll feel better soon.
We’ll see what happens next. I’ll definitely try to disconnect a bit from tennis, enjoy life, recover, and spend some time with my family. I hope that will help me recharge. For me, the word ‘rest’ is absolutely fitting.
