"I saw a champagne cork fly onto the court, cheers to you," Raducanu expresses her joy after Wimbledon victory
Raducanu delivered a strong performance against her compatriot Xu (ranked 318th) with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the first round of Wimbledon. Overjoyed after her victory, the British player shared her happiness in an interview with the organizers:
"Well, I’m glad people had fun today. I saw a champagne cork fly onto the court. I’m happy you’re all having a good time. Cheers to you! It’s really great to be back. Thank you for the support—I love playing in this kind of atmosphere. It’s by far my favorite tournament."
Following this latest success, Raducanu secured her fourth win in six grass-court matches this year. A quarterfinalist last year, the young player will face a tough challenge in the next round as she is set to compete against the 2023 champion, Vondrousova.
