"I don't think I dropped my focus level," says Alcaraz after advancing to Roland-Garros third round

Carlos Alcaraz has secured his spot in the third round of Roland-Garros. The defending champion dropped his first set of the tournament against Fabian Marozsan, who had defeated the Spaniard in Rome two years ago.
However, the Spaniard managed to regain control and clinched the victory in four sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2) to advance to the round of 16, where he will face Damir Dzumhur, who defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard later in the day. In the press conference, Alcaraz reflected on his win against the Hungarian.
"I believe today was a good match for me. Overall, I played well. In the second set, he started playing better and better, and he reached a level I couldn’t match.
I’m proud of how I mentally refocused in the third set. I think I played great tennis in the last two sets. If we’re talking about today’s match, I don’t think my focus dropped. He just played better than me in the second set.
I tried to maintain my level throughout the match. Generally, in Grand Slams, if I’m not fully concentrated, it’s easier for me to get back into it mentally because I know I have more time, since matches are best-of-five sets," Alcaraz explained.
He was then asked about a potential final against Jannik Sinner, especially after his draw opened up following the losses of Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas, among others.
"The final is still too far away for me to think about it now. Who knows? It’s great to have beaten Jannik (Sinner), especially since I’ve done it in our last four matches.
But I don’t know if I’ll have to face him or not—it’s too early to say. I’m not focusing on the final; we’re still too far from the finish line," concluded the world No. 2 for Punto De Break.
