"I don't think they've reached their full potential yet," Ljubicic discusses the rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz

Ivan Ljubicic remains a keen observer of tennis. A former professional player, the Croatian, who once reached world No. 3, now works for the French Tennis Federation as the director of high performance.
After the Wimbledon final, the 46-year-old gave an interview to Swiss media outlet *Tages-Anzeiger*, where he spoke about the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz—a rivalry expected to dominate tennis for years to come.
"Alcaraz and Sinner have the drive to win many Grand Slam titles. It will be exciting to see how far they go. The final between them at Roland-Garros was a very, very, very good final. And the drama was perfect, with Alcaraz saving match points in the fourth set.
Now, can we consider it one of the greatest finals of all time? I don’t know, but I feel people always exaggerate. John McEnroe once said that Nadal (a 14-time Roland-Garros champion) would have had no chance at his best against these guys. That’s absurd.
Especially since we haven’t seen the best of Alcaraz and Sinner yet. They still have plenty of time to improve. The next generation is always better than the previous one, but I don’t think they’ve reached their peak yet.
I sometimes watch matches from 2005, 2008, 2012, or 2015 between Roger (Federer) and Rafa (Nadal). That was incredible tennis," said the 2010 Indian Wells Masters champion.
