"I knew I had to play my best to win," Anisimova savors after her victory against Gauff in Beijing
Amanda Anisimova made a big statement by eliminating Coco Gauff in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Beijing with disconcerting ease.
Anisimova has been nearly unstoppable in recent months. The world number 4 qualified for her third WTA 1000 final after an easy victory over defending champion Coco Gauff (6-1, 6-2 in 58 minutes).
This marks her second victory in three encounters for the 24-year-old player against her compatriot. On court after her success, Anisimova shared her initial thoughts before facing Linda Noskova or Jessica Pegula for the title this Sunday.
"I was simply thrilled to play my first semifinal here. I managed to deliver a very good performance and I knew I had to play my best against Coco (Gauff) to win.
I'm very happy to be in the final. Every time I stepped onto the court and won my match, I said that I loved playing here and that the crowd support has been incredible from day one.
I really think that helped me throughout the tournament. I hope everyone will come support me in the final," Anisimova assured for The Tennis Letter after her qualification.
