Under 1 Hour of Play and a Demonstration: Anisimova Sweeps Past Gauff and Reaches the Beijing WTA 1000 Final

The American flag flies over China. As the semifinals of the Beijing WTA 1000 take place this Saturday, three American players have reached this stage of the competition.
The first match of the day pitted defending champion Coco Gauff against Amanda Anisimova, who is in great form and reached the finals of the last two Grand Slam tournaments.
Anisimova, who defeated Katie Boulter, Zhang Shuai, Karolina Muchova, and Jasmine Paolini to reach the semifinals, came in full of confidence, while Gauff, riding a streak of 10 consecutive wins in the Chinese capital, had eliminated Kamilla Rakhimova, Leylah Fernandez, Belinda Bencic, and Eva Lys.
Observers could have expected a tight match, especially since the two players were tied in their head-to-head record (1-1). However, for this first encounter since 2022, the anticipated battle never materialized.
From the start of the match, Anisimova, the world No. 4, was able to impose her pace. Helpless from start to finish, Gauff never managed to get her head above water. Trailing 6-1, 5-0, this year's Roland Garros champion showed a slight burst of pride to break serve, but she had too much ground to make up to turn the situation around.
In the end, Anisimova was clearly the better player on the court, and she ultimately won in two quick sets (6-1, 6-2 in 58 minutes).
The 24-year-old American thus qualifies for her third WTA 1000 final (after Montreal 2024 and Doha 2025) and hopes to win her second title in this tournament category after being crowned in Qatar earlier this year against Linda Noskova or Jessica Pegula. As for Gauff, she will not achieve the double in Beijing, and her streak of ten consecutive wins in this tournament comes to an end.
