"I know it's the right decision," Garcia announces and explains her withdrawal from Wimbledon
Initially entered in the Wimbledon qualifying draw for her final Grand Slam on the London grass, Caroline Garcia has ultimately withdrawn from the British tournament.
The 31-year-old French player, who has been struggling with a back injury for several months, chose not to take any risks and withdrew. The former world No. 4 will no longer compete at Wimbledon, where she reached the round of 16 twice (in 2017 and 2022).
On Instagram, Garcia—who announced just before Roland-Garros that she would retire at the end of the current season—explained her absence from the 2025 edition in the English capital, which would have been her final appearance at Wimbledon.
"No Wimbledon for me this year. I had to push my body to the limit, playing with injections at Roland-Garros, the tournament I competed in for the last time in my career. I don’t regret a single second of it.
But now, it’s time to go back to square one: let my body truly heal and get in a solid training block. Even though it hurts to miss the grass season, I know it’s the right decision.
I want to be healthy to give one last push during the hardcourt season and be ready for another big moment off the court: wedding preparations begin. I’ll keep you posted on where my next tournament will be. See you soon," Garcia wrote on social media.
