Boisson Ousted in First Round of Wimbledon Qualifying
Loïs Boisson returned to the court after her semifinal run at Roland Garros. As the No. 1 seed, she faced Carson Branstine, a player who is quite comfortable on grass.
The start of the match was challenging for the Frenchwoman, who was playing on grass for the first time in her career. Overwhelmed by the Canadian’s powerful shots, she lost the first set 6-2.
Adapting to the surface and her opponent’s game, Boisson gained control in the second set. Though broken while serving for the set, she managed to clinch it in a tiebreak.
Unfortunately for Boisson, her lack of experience on grass became evident again in the decisive set, leading to some poor decision-making.
In the end, Branstine prevailed with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 victory. She will face Bianca Andreescu in the next round.
As for Boisson, her schedule for the coming weeks remains unknown.
