"I need to start from scratch and think about something else," says Kostyuk, on a streak of five consecutive losses

Marta Kostyuk has been struggling lately after a positive start to the season. The Ukrainian, ranked 27th in the WTA, is now on a five-match losing streak in singles. Seeded at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, she suffered early exits against two qualifiers: Sara Bejlek in Paris (6-3, 6-1) and Veronika Erjavec in London (3-6, 6-3, 6-4).
It’s been a disappointment for Kostyuk, who has stagnated for several months and hasn’t been able to turn things around. Her last win dates back to May 11, when she defeated Leylah Fernandez (6-4, 6-2) in the third round of the WTA 1000 in Rome.
After her early exit on the London grass, Kostyuk took a short break, wanting to clear her mind before starting the final stretch of the season in the coming days.
"I recover best at home. I need to start from scratch and think about something else. I cook, spend time with friends, and go by the water if I get the chance.
After London, it was harder for me to recover than usual. I was really sick during Wimbledon. But I’ve already gotten back into the rhythm: I’ve started training, gradually monitoring my workload, and regaining my form.
Now, I have a preparation period for a series of tournaments in North America. The next tournament I’ll play is Washington. That’s where the American swing begins.
As for reaching peak form, it’s a complex process. I’m working on everything step by step: fitness, mental stability, recovery. The key is to maintain balance and move forward gradually. I’m confident it will pay off," explained the 23-year-old Kostyuk to Tribuna.
