I really respect him for coming when he wasn’t at 100%," Sinner reacts to his Wimbledon victory
For the 4th consecutive year, Sinner has advanced to the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Without difficulty and facing a diminished Martinez, the Italian wasted no time securing a 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 win in just under 2 hours of play. After his victory, he spoke on the court with the tournament's microphone:
"Very happy, but it’s true he couldn’t serve properly with his shoulder injury. So I really respect him for coming when he wasn’t at 100%. I just tried to stay very solid with my shots. Thank you all for coming, and to all the athletes here in the stands. Compared to you, I feel like I’ve won nothing. It’s a huge honor to play in front of you."
A passionate Formula 1 fan, the world No. 1 also responded to questions about the F1 Grand Prix taking place this week at Silverstone (England). While he doesn’t plan to attend, he still hopes to find a way to watch it:
"No, I’ll stay focused, but I’ll organize my training sessions so I can watch the race. It clashes with Wimbledon, but that’s good because it means I’m still in the tournament.
