"I savored every second," says Bouchard after her victory against Arango in Montreal
Eugenie Bouchard is playing her final tournament in Montreal. The Canadian, who has transitioned to pickleball, announced her retirement following the Montreal tournament.
After winning her first-round match against Emiliana Arango, the Canadian expressed great satisfaction and intends to fully enjoy her last moments on the professional courts.
In a press conference, she stated: "Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. This morning, I woke up telling myself that I couldn’t control the outcome.
I just wanted to have a good attitude, fight hard, try to feel my shots, and feel good about my tennis. No matter the result, I wanted to leave the court having enjoyed this match, which turned out to be a great battle.
I savored every second—I truly didn’t know what to expect, but I’m leaving very happy."
Bouchard will face Belinda Bencic in the second round in Montreal.
