After the women's draw was announced, 17-year-old British player Mingge Xu humorously shared her reaction when she found out her first-round opponent:
"It's really funny because I was on my way to my Airbnb around 10 a.m., and I got a message from my coach saying, 'What an amazing draw, this is so exciting!' But I hadn’t seen the draw yet.

Then I got another text, this time from my mom, saying the same thing. So I wondered who I was playing. I started scrolling through the messages and eventually saw that I was facing Emma in the first round."
Invited by the organizers, Mingge Xu (ranked 318th) will face her compatriot Raducanu in her Wimbledon debut. This season on grass, she notably reached the quarterfinals in Birmingham.
