"I'm coming here in a completely different mindset compared to last year," Paolini discusses her ambitions for Wimbledon

Jasmine Paolini steps forward as a credible title contender at Wimbledon. However, the world No. 4 has high stakes in London over the coming days as she must defend the points from her runner-up finish last year.
Defeated in the third round of the Australian Open and the round of 16 at Roland-Garros—both times by Elina Svitolina—the Italian knows she must raise her level of play to replicate last year’s success.
Eliminated just shy of the final in Bad Homburg by Iga Swiatek on Friday on German grass, Paolini appeared at a press conference at Wimbledon and shared her ambitions for the tournament.
"We haven’t had much time to train because the schedule is very tight, and the deadlines are close together. It’s quite hot! So far, everything is going well, but I’m curious to see how it will be when we can train for longer.
Even in Bad Homburg and Berlin, it was hot. I like the heat, but I must say I really enjoyed the roof being closed here last year. Still, I think sunshine is better for everyone.
I need to find the best feelings, the positive energy this place can give you if you take it the right way. I’m coming here in a completely different mindset compared to last year, even compared to Paris.
I’m trying to hold onto all the positive things from last year, but I also have to think that anything can happen this year. I shouldn’t dwell on last season’s context, just give my best and accept whatever comes.
I have to write my new story. I want to stay at this level as long as possible and keep improving to maintain a high level of consistency," explained Paolini, who will face Sevastova on Monday, for Tennis World Italia.
