I Should Have Been Able to Force a Fifth Set," Fritz Reflects on His Loss to Alcaraz at Wimbledon

Taylor Fritz, a first-time Wimbledon semifinalist, fell in four sets to the ever-complete and spectacular play of Carlos Alcaraz.
The American, who led in the fourth-set tiebreak, expressed some regrets in the press conference about not being able to push the match to a decisive fifth set:
"I had opportunities. I felt good in those moments during the tiebreak. Obviously, looking back, I can point to things I could have done better on those points. But I should have converted at least one set point to force a fifth set.
Still, I think I played a good match. I struggled a bit in the first and third sets. In the second and fourth, I did exactly what I planned to do and played the way I wanted."
Fritz also praised his opponent’s performance:
"He impresses me with his ability to win in so many different ways, to play so many different styles. I’m really impressed by how well he plays at the net and how he handles the big moments. It feels like he never misses.
For a while, people also said his serve was one of his weaknesses. But the way he’s serving now, there are no weaknesses. He was serving at the same speed as me the entire match.
