"I still have an infection in my throat and stomach," says Rune after withdrawing from Hamburg

First eliminated by Moutet in the third round of Rome, Rune then withdrew from the Hamburg tournament scheduled the week before Roland-Garros. In a message posted on his social media, the Dane wanted to reassure his fans:
"Hello everyone. After Rome, we did a lot of tests in Denmark because I’ve been feeling really unwell for a long time. The tests showed that I still have an infection in my throat (which wasn’t cured by the antibiotics in Indian Wells) and also an infection in my stomach.
I’m now taking a strong antibiotic and can’t wait to feel better. The good news is that otherwise, I’m healthy. This spring has been tough, and I’m looking forward to bouncing back with energy. Thank you for your support through the highs and lows."
Although the 22-year-old player won the title in Barcelona, he still suffered early exits in Monte-Carlo and Madrid. In Paris, Rune will try to do better than last year, when he lost in the round of 16.
