I think I played one of my best matches against Djokovic at Wimbledon," says Cobolli
Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli have faced each other twice. The first time, in Shanghai in 2024, was one-sided for the Serb, with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Their second encounter was in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, where the Italian managed to take a set this time.
Speaking to The Tennis Channel, Cobolli reflected on these two matches: "Novak has been my idol since I started playing tennis.
"I faced him in Shanghai last year, and it was a disaster. I lost 6-1, 6-2 in 45 minutes. I was really nervous about playing him, but this time (at Wimbledon), I had more confidence in my game.
"That day, I was more confident and just tried to play my game. I think I played one of my best matches. I didn’t win, but it’s never easy to beat him in a Grand Slam.
"I think I delivered a great performance at Wimbledon, but also this season, because it started very tough and I was injured. I changed my game, my mindset, and now I’m really happy to be playing tennis at this level.
"I’m training a bit more than before. I try to listen to my coach. It’s my dad. It’s not easy, but I’m trying to listen to him more.
