I told myself I would come out stronger," Anisimova's words in the press conference after her Wimbledon final defeat
Defeated 6-0, 6-0 in the Wimbledon final by Iga Świątek, Amanda Anisimova experienced the worst possible scenario in her first Grand Slam final.
Overwhelmed by the stakes and unable to trouble her opponent, the young American suffered a loss that will go down in tennis history. After gathering her emotions, she spoke in the press conference to explain how she felt on the court:
"I had two amazing weeks that I’ll always remember. Iga played incredibly well—she’s an amazing player and deserves the win. She managed to play exactly how she wanted. Of course, it was very hard to digest, especially after the match.
This isn’t how I wanted my first Grand Slam final to go. I think I was also a bit in shock. But I told myself I would come out stronger.
Losing 6-0, 6-0 in a Grand Slam final isn’t easy to process. I can take it as a positive and use it as motivation for the future. Obviously, there are a lot of things I need to improve on. [...]
I was nervous before the match, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was really excited to step on the court and compete. I didn’t practice yesterday because I was tired, and I felt it during my warm-up this morning. I needed a break after every rally. I have to work on my fitness. Lasting two weeks in a Grand Slam is something you have to train for.
I really struggled with my serve. I think people could see that. I don’t know if it’s nerves that make my serve break down.
I’m not entirely sure where the issue comes from, but my team and I will look into it. Over the past two weeks, I’ve escaped so many tough situations despite my serve failing. It’ll be one of my areas to improve.

What a joke.
This is what passes for today's "equality".
Go BJK go! 🤣
