"I want other players to be afraid to face me," Andreescu sets the tone at Wimbledon

Currently ranked 147th in the world, Bianca Andreescu is doing everything she can to climb back up the rankings quickly. Competing in the Wimbledon qualifying draw, the 2019 US Open champion cleared the first-round hurdle.
Facing Brazilian player Laura Pigossi, the Canadian won convincingly (6-2, 6-1) and will now take on her compatriot Carson Branstine, who defeated Loïs Boisson on Tuesday.
"I try to approach every match as if it were a Grand Slam final, in a way. I’m really happy to be back here. I still remember the moment I stepped onto the court when I was in the main draw.
At the time, I thought it was insane. I don’t want the conversation about me to be, ‘Bianca is attempting yet another comeback on the tour.’ Focusing on my mental health is my priority.
I don’t want to set result-based goals—I’m someone who focuses more on performance, on giving my best every day. That way, people might say, ‘Bianca is so locked in.’
Every time there’s a draw, I want other players to be afraid to face me. I really enjoy playing on grass. This surface gives me confidence. I have this mindset of becoming one with the grass because you never know what you’ll get on this surface," Andreescu told Tennis Up To Date.
