"I was walking around the next day, and no one knew I had lost, no one cared," Gauff downplays her 2022 final

After defeating Boisson, Gauff secured another final at Roland Garros. At just 21 years old, the American will seek redemption for her 2022 loss to Swiatek, though she still insists on putting that defeat into perspective:
"I think it’s just realizing how small it is. Everyone faces much bigger things in life than losing a final. I also realized that a lot of players would love to be in this position. I’m sure there are hundreds of players who would kill to win or lose in a final. Just knowing that makes me aware of the luck and privilege I have to be in this position.
At first, I thought it would be the end of the world if I lost. And you know, the sun still rose the next day. So, no matter the result, the sun will always rise. Especially in a city like Paris—I was walking around the next day, and no one knew I had lost. No one cared. Some people know who I am, but not everyone. I realize that the importance of the moment in our lives isn’t as big as it seems in the grand scheme of things," she said in an interview shared by *Tennis Up to Date*.
