"I wouldn't say it was predictable," Alcaraz's response regarding Sinner's self-critique
"I was very predictable on the court today. Now it will be up to me to make changes or not," were the words spoken by Sinner following his defeat in the US Open final.
Asked during the press conference, his opponent of the day, Alcaraz, was questioned about Sinner's self-reflection. To which he replied:
"I wouldn't say that I read his game or that it was predictable. I watch a lot of his matches because I enjoy watching him play. I think what he does is incredible. In the end, I think it's a matter of improvements. You talk with your team and make some adjustments to your game. I think everything will be different the next time we face each other."
For reference, Sinner lost in four sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4) after 2 hours and 42 minutes of play. Struggling throughout the match, the former world number one displayed unusual percentages on serve (48% first serves in) as well as on return (27%).
