I'm back, still in shape, but I'm not playing well," announces Fils upon return
Arthur Fils will make his comeback to competition this Wednesday in Toronto against Pablo Carreno-Busta.
Absent from the courts since his withdrawal in the third round of Roland-Garros, Fils appeared at a press conference to discuss his current form.
He stated: "I'm doing very well. I haven’t seen my friends on the tour in a long time, so I’m happy to be back. Of course, a lot has changed in two months.
I was in shape and playing pretty well. Now, I’m back, still in shape, but I’m not playing well. But it’s very nice to be back, and I’m enjoying it.
When I’m not on tour, I have a different life, of course. I have friends from my hometown, my family, and everything else.
But when I return to the tour, it’s always nice to see familiar faces like Gaël Monfils, Ben Shelton, or Alejandro Davidovich.
When I stepped onto the court, I was excited. Five minutes later, I was already frustrated. But it’s good to be playing again. I’ve been playing for ten days now. I feel like my level is improving day by day. So I’m pretty happy.
