After defeating Fritz (6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6), Alcaraz reached the final of the legendary Wimbledon tournament for the third consecutive time. At just 22 years old, the Spaniard could achieve the Roland-Garros-Wimbledon double for the second year in a row, as well as extend his winning streak to 25 matches on the tour. Happy after his qualification, he shared his thoughts with the tournament organizers:

"It was a very, very tough match. The conditions were difficult—it was extremely hot—but I’m happy with how I played because I managed to keep my nerves in check. Taylor puts a lot of pressure on you. I saved 2 set points, so I’m proud of how I stayed calm.

I don’t think too much about these numbers (24 wins in a row). I just think I’m living my dream, which is having the chance to play in the biggest tournaments in the world. I don’t want to think about Sunday yet—I just want to enjoy this qualification. It’s really something hard to achieve. I’ll enjoy it with my loved ones, and I’ll have plenty of time to think about the final.

As for the other semifinal, it’s one of the most exciting matches we have on the tour right now. I’ll enjoy watching this duel. I have a lot to do—press, etc.—but I’ll watch it with a tactical eye."

To find out his opponent in the final, he’ll have to wait for the result of the clash between the seven-time champion here, Djokovic, and the world No. 1, Sinner.

The paradox dividing tennis: exhausted players and a saturated calendar, yet ever more exhibitions
The paradox dividing tennis: exhausted players and a saturated calendar, yet ever more exhibitions

Exhausted but omnipresent stars, ever-longer tournaments and exhibitions that have become a business in their own right: tennis is revealing its deepest contradictions, torn between spectacle and physical survival.

The impact of the war on tennis in Ukraine: financial aid, foundations, governing bodies and all‑round headaches

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

Born almost by accident in an Acapulco garden, padel has in fifty years become a global phenomenon that both fascinates and worries tennis. Its meteoric rise is already reshaping the landscape of racket sports.

A tennis player's income depends solely on his sporting results. In the event of injury, the daily life of those far from the Top 100 can become extremely complicated.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
