Injured yesterday in Madrid, Goffin likely to miss Roland-Garros
David Goffin had to retire yesterday during his match against Alexandre Müller in Madrid. The Belgian injured his right foot while rushing to the net and was unable to continue the match.
Twenty-four hours after this withdrawal and images that spoke volumes about the severity of the injury, the diagnosis is now known. Goffin is suffering from a partial tear of the plantar fascia, which will force him to stay off the court for two weeks before gradually resuming training.
It’s safe to say his participation in Roland-Garros, which begins in a month, is highly uncertain. A timely return would require a small miracle for the current world No. 49.
