"It didn't go as I hoped," regrets Paolini after her second-round exit at Wimbledon

Jasmine Paolini will not defend the points from last year's Wimbledon final. The Italian, seeded No. 4, was eliminated in the second round by Kamilla Rakhimova (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) in a closely contested match.
However, in the end, the world No. 5 was overturned by the Russian, ranked 80th in the WTA. Already eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open and the round of 16 at Roland-Garros, Paolini confirms her struggles in Grand Slams this year. Disappointed, the 29-year-old player reacted to her exit in a press conference.
"This is a painful defeat. I keep thinking about the second set—I could have done better. She played well, but honestly, I could have done much better. Especially mentally, I should have and could have stayed more focused in the match.
But instead, my level of concentration fluctuated throughout the encounter. Obviously, on one hand, I think about last year, especially because of the level of tennis I showed then.
This year, I came to the grass trying to find those feelings again, but I struggled a bit more, honestly. It didn’t go as I hoped. It wasn’t a good level from me.
I could have played better in the first round (against Sevastova) and today. But now, I need to start from scratch, take a few days of rest after finishing doubles. And try to recharge for the second half of the season," she told Tennis World Italia.
