"It has to change," Auger-Aliassime complains about the balls used at the Paris tournament

It has to change, Auger-Aliassime complains about the balls used at the Paris tournament

Despite qualifying for the second round, Félix Auger-Aliassime criticized the balls at the Rolex Paris Masters.

Auger-Aliassime turned the match around against Francisco Comesaña (6-7, 6-3, 6-3). The Canadian, ranked 10th in the world, will face Alexandre Muller for a spot in the round of 16. In the mixed zone after his victory against the Argentine, the 25-year-old player criticized the balls used for this tournament.

"Honestly, the balls are terrible, they don't bounce straight! When you try to keep the ball in the court, it's okay, but as soon as you try to be precise on the serve or hit. It has to change.

We need to find a solution, we've been talking about it since Covid, but every time, there's no solution, we need to find one so that it gets better. The last two weeks (in Basel and Brussels), the balls were normal.

When you play tennis every day of your life, there's a real difference, it's monumental. If you look at the ball you play tennis with, there's always a white seam.

Here, the seam is not uniform, so sometimes it's wider, sometimes it's thinner, sometimes there's a hollow. The ball isn't really round. It's a real problem," he stated for L'Équipe.

"Here, the seam is not uniform, ...".
But just think about how much money the tournament saved by using far lesser quality balls.
