"It was a million times worse than what happened to me, and honestly, it made me feel a little better," Pegula reflects on Sinner's loss in Paris

With a title in Bad Homburg under her belt, Pegula arrived in London brimming with confidence. However, before that, the American faced a major setback when she lost to Boisson, then ranked 361st, in the Roland-Garros round of 16.
In an interview with Tennis World USA, the world No. 3 explained how Sinner’s defeat in the final helped her put things into perspective:
"I was at home watching the match. Obviously, I thought Jannik would win, and then everything changed. It was insane. I still can’t believe Carlos saved match points, came back, and won. I was pretty disappointed after my loss to Boisson—I wanted to move forward and reach the quarterfinals again. But seeing the final result and how Sinner lost like that… it was clearly a million times worse than what happened to me, and honestly, it made me feel a little better."
As one of the top American hopes at Wimbledon this year, Pegula will begin her campaign against Italy’s Cocciaretto (No. 116). The match is scheduled for Tuesday at 12 PM on Court No. 2.
