It will be a real Grand Slam, we are here 100% to win," says Fritz about mixed doubles at the US Open
During a press conference at Wimbledon, Taylor Fritz addressed the major change announced by the US Open regarding mixed doubles. Partnered with Rybakina, the American assured that they would take this new format very seriously:
"I think I’m a bit of a mixed doubles specialist. I’m not going to lie, my mixed doubles results speak for themselves. At the United Cup, I don’t think I lost a single mixed match. I believe I’ve won Indian Wells twice. I think for some reason, I just enjoy playing mixed doubles.
We’re probably one of the teams to beat. I’d have to check the full list, but I think I remember saying Shelton and Townsend make a pretty strong team. I recall Tsitsipas and Badosa—I think they were good last year. To be honest, there are so many strong teams and great players, but I don’t know, it’s just random—in mixed doubles, I tend to do well.
My level of competition will be extreme. One hundred percent. I think everyone will be like that, to be honest. I think everyone really wants to win. It will be a real Grand Slam. The prize money is huge. We are here 100% to win.
